This project consisted of designing a mobile game promoting the Detroit Zoo, encouraging the player to learn more about the animals and how they can help them. I decided to make my game targeted towards kids, and enhanced the user's experience by implementing a function in which the player has to interact with the real world to progress in the game; the game uses the player's location and guides them to the target animal's enclosure, at which point the player must locate the information board to answer the trivia question correctly and proceed to the next animal. After finding all 3 animals, the player can claim their prize: a plush version of one of the animals they found on their journey. In order to create an engaging and fun experience, I created a handful of original assets including buttons, menus, and a logo in an illustrative style to encourage young kids to keep playing. Additionally, I utilized Photoshop to create fun, colorful composite images to use as backgrounds for the home, trivia, and finishing screens to highlight each animal. I also included additional information about each animal, highlighting some of the threats they face to cultivate awareness and encourage kids to care about nature and how they treat it. All of these elements resulted in an effective experience that is both fun and educational for the target audience.
